I met Diego in 2014 and initially we practiced mostly English. My grammar level was advanced, however my speaking skills definitely didn’t match it. Thanks to him my English has improved noticeably – from ramble to fluency. This helped me a lot in my life, because one of my objectives was travelling comfortably and being able to communicate with people. As a result I managed to visit many countries and make new friends from all over the world.
The next step was learning Portuguese. My knowledge of it could have been estimated as a complete zero. I didn’t even know how to say “hi” or “good bye”. We started working mostly on speaking again. And only within 2 months I learned how to express myself well in daily conversations. Of course learning a language is something that requires lots of personal efforts, but I believe that a good teacher is one the components of success too. In my case, Diego was this teacher for me. He taught me not only how to speak, but also how to understand native speakers of English and Portuguese better and how to feel more confident when I speak. And that was the greatest achievement for me – feeling that I’m not afraid of speaking a foreign language anymore!Liza Lakuntsova
